(this letter can be changed to suit your individual circumstances) As a concerned community member, I ask you to reconsider the TAFE fee increases for 2008. These large fee increases will prevent many students from completing courses or starting a TAFE course next year. I consider access to a TAFE course different from university studies and believe any TAFE fees and charges for materials should remain low. TAFE is important to the economy of our country and has a valuable role in solving current skills shortages. TAFE also assists local communities. The new $50 charge for benefit holders will be a barrier for many disadvantaged people. I ask you to support additional funding for TAFE and to put a stop to any fee increase, other than CPI, in 2008 and future years.
